Here you’ll find answers to the questions we get asked most about enrolling at our College. If you want to find out more, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
What are the College tuition fees?
Catholic schools are typically seen as great value for money, providing high-quality education supported by quality facilities and learning environments. It is the policy of the Catholic Schools Office that financial hardship should not prevent any child from attending a Catholic school and no child will be denied a Catholic education because of a family’s genuine inability to pay the required school fees. Any family experiencing financial difficulties is entitled to fee assistance, your local school Principal will be able to discuss this with you.
Together with parents, clergy and school staff, St Joseph’s Catholic College is committed to offering the children in the Maitland region access to schools in which their faith can be nurtured in outstanding learning environments. We seek to assist young people to realise their full potential, taking into account their unique spiritual, intellectual, physical and social needs.
The greater part of diocesan schools’ funding comes from State and Commonwealth government grants, but the commitment and continuing financial contribution of parents and parish communities is still essential to fill the gap between the funds provided by government and the actual cost of running our schools. School fees are comprised of three components – Diocesan tuition fees, individual school resource and service fees and Diocesan Family School Building Levy (DFSBL).
How can I make a fee payment?
The preferred method of payment is via BPAY. Please contact the Campus Finance Manager to discuss payment options.
Statements are sent out at the start of each month beginning March. Fees can be paid weekly, fortnightly, monthly or annually. Fees paid annually are due for payment by 30 June of that year. Fees paid using the other payment options are due for payment in full by 30 November (other than for Year 12 students who are due for payment in full by 30 Sept).
Where can I purchase the school uniform?
Students at St Joseph’s are expected to wear the correct school uniform every day. In wearing our uniform they are representing the school and as such need to uphold our strong reputation in the community. Wearing the uniform respectfully is not only an outward sign of belonging to the school community, but a way to express their pride in, and commitment to the school. It is also important that the uniform is worn correctly due to the necessity to meet work, health and safety requirements.
Wearing the correct uniform includes not substituting sports or agricultural uniform for formal school uniform by choice. If part of the school uniform is not able to be worn, a parental note is required. This note must be presented to the relevant Student Coordinator immediately upon arrival at school and a student will be issued with a out-of-uniform pass for the day.
All items of the school uniform are only available from the Uniform Shop. The Uniform Shop is located in the demountable building in the spare block adjacent to the staff car park and church. Entry is through the black gates on Segenhoe Street. Most uniform items in various sizes are in stock but occasionally supplies are exhausted. Pre-ordering is advisable to ensure delivery before school commences or the season changes.
